Looking for a creamy Alfredo sauce that’s packed with flavour? You’ve come to the right place! Recipe below.
Recipe:
1 large white onion, diced
1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon granulated garlic
1/4-1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Sea salt and pepper
3/4 cup cashews, soakedย in boiling water for 20-30mins, then drained
3/4ย cup vegetable broth
1/2 lemon, juiced
3ย Tablespoonsย nutritional yeastย
Sautรฉ onions with oil, garlic, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper over medium heat until onions are browned and tender, but not burnt. This is where the flavour for the sauce comes from!
Add sautรฉed onions, cashews, broth, lemon juice and nutritional yeast to a blender and blend until smooth.
Add to your cooked gluten free pasta with your choice to sautรฉed veg and/or meat alternative. I added green peas for protein as well as sautรฉed mushrooms. (Add some pasta water for extra creaminess!)
