Whole Foods and Plant Based Lifestyle:
Watch the sat fats, sodium and make sure ALL the ingredients you are using are WHOLE. No added ingredients on the label.
This is not JUST a vegan, nor JUST a vegetarian, nor JUST a plant based Lifestyle! There is a lot more to it to make sure your nutrition is balanced.
You have to use:
1. Whole Ingredients only
2. Read the label for ONLY whole ingredients
3. Read for Sat Fat and keep it to zero or as close to zero as possible
4. ZERO sodium in anything you purchase that is processed (whole natural ingredients will have zero or very minimal natural sodium for example 20 mg of sodium) BUT if the ingredients label says sodium or salt then it’s a no. (or any other added ingredients like sugar and oil)
5. No added ingredients like unreadable stuff, no added colors or dyes, no added salt, no refined sugar, nor oils in what you buy. You’d be surprised, they even add that stuff to dried fruit! Read the ingredients!
6. Beans and legumes add even more protein needed to balance your plate. All veggies and fruit add protein, but you need beans/legumes on your plate as well. Lunch and dinner should have it on the plate, at least 2/3 to 3/4 cup. If you have ‘bean gassy issues’ take gas x or beano consistently for 2 ish months until your body gets used to it. This is what my sister had me do. If needed we still take them. But remember passing gas is normal ! Do not be embarrassed, only if your tummy is uncomfortable, take gas x, beano or a bean relief supplement. You can also soak and rinse beans multiple times before cooking them. It helps. When eating beans add citrus for iron absorption into the body.
7. If you are ever hungry or hangry then you are not EATING ENOUGH or did not add enough nutrition to the meal. You need the fiber, complex carbs, vitamins and minerals to have a balanced plate for nutrition to satiate you. (Search 🔍 for my videos and posts on this topic- Satiation).
8. To lose weight or maintain weight: Find your plate balance (use the search 🔍to see my videos and posts on this).
9. For Menopause/Peri-Menopause eat soy 1 to 2 times per day. See my videos and posts on this using the 🔍 at the top of the page. You can even search 🔍 “Soy Myths” to dispel the erroneous info that Soy is bad for you.
10. Both animal protein diet and plant based lifestyles like Vegan/Vegetarian are highly saturated fat lifestyles that can be detrimental to health. When speaking with Vegans and Vegetarians that are not WFPB No SOS and No Processed (Whole Food & Plant Based No Salt, No Oil, nor refined sugar and No Processed Foods) a high consumption of plant based highly saturated fat plant foods is sometimes the contributing factor to weight gain or health issues. Consuming plant based products that are processed vegan/vegetarian products like vegan cheese, vegan butter, beyond burgers etc. means added unnecessary ingredients and high saturated fat.
11. This is a carefree Lifestyle, you should NOT be counting, tracking nor obsessing about what is going into you body. Once you learn to balance your plate, you will just eat and enjoy freedom from FOOD NOISE and find FOOD FREEDOM.
1. SCANNING AN INGREDIENT LABEL:
*Read the label for the INGREDIENTS. Confirm they are whole and that there are no added ingredients.
*Then move your eyes to the Sodium, if ZERO it is Ok or if it only contains natural sodium it is Ok.
*Now move your eyes to SAT FATS I keep them as close to zero as I can.
